The Word of God is Like a Rag- Not a Wash Cloth

Updated: Dec 24, 2020

I was listening to God's word today and the message was about cleansing: getting the dirt off of us from a spiritual perspective and it really hit home for me personally. You remember when you were young and you got in the tub with a wash cloth and some soap, but you did more playing around in the water than you did cleaning behind them ears and getting between them crevices with that bath cloth? But then your mom came in and washed you and when she drained the tub you could see a black ring around it from all the dirt she scrubbed off your body. Well its the same analogy that the Word talks about in Ephes 5: 26-27 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. That he might present it (the church) to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing but it should be holy and without blemish." There's a spiritual cleansing that we must go through as Christians that starts from the inside; in how we think, what we believe, what our priorities are and how we live our lives according to God's commands and not our own human and fleshly desires. It certainly doesn't happen overnight but it has to happen IF we want the promises of God in this life and eternity. The things I used to believe and give so much importance to when I was younger now seem like the thoughts and actions of someone I don't even know. The cavalier lifestyle and worldly desires that were as far from godliness as the devil is from Christ Jesus, but I had to have a spiritual transformation- a spiritual cleansing! And praise God, when I started seeking him, the Lord began removing my spiritual blinders. My pastor says that the word of God is like a rag; not a soft cloth that you see on tv moving clean water over a clean body- but a rag that scrubs the dirt off you that you don't even realize is there -until it isn't- and you can clearly see the ring left in the tub. I think about the state of this government and how so many people are hurting- whether its from losing loved ones to the virus or joblessness and the inability to provide for one's family, all by no fault of your own but still having to fight for a lousy $1200, some 6 month after the first stimulus checks when things have gotten even worse, and these elected representatives (that have job security and guaranteed salaries) continuing to fight tooth and nail not to help the people, while they continue to support a loser - an anarchist - an autocrat set on destroying democracy and using lies and fake facts to bilk his delusional followers out of their money! This stinks to high heaven people and we need a good heavenly wash rag to scrub our hearts and minds and get a grip! All this is wicked... all of this is foolishness and ungodly but the filthiness of it all is there for the whole world to see. Hosea 4:6 says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Not book knowledge, but God's truth -His knowledge- that is infallible, is perfect and will stand forever. But we must seek his knowledge. We must 'get wisdom: and in all thy getting get an understanding'(Proverbs 4:7). As my pastor said, "We can be wise today if we stop mingling with fools." All of these efforts to get ourselves right- to clean ourselves of our fleshly desires- love of money and power and every human practice that is antithetical to God's word and His commandments,

must start and end with the word of God. Eccles 5:1 "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools; for they consider not that they do evil." Oh, I also want to let you know that I did go to the @MultifamilyMindset bootcamp this past weekend and it was wonderful! Tune in to my next blog when I update you about my credit scores and tell you about @Tyler_Deveraux and the members of his team and my decision to sign on to their mentorship program! Until next time...Be BLESSED!!
